Novi Pazar in 1468 was registered as a šeher
"Novi Pazar is one of the cities in the Balkans which, next to Sarajevo, is the most important cultural, religious and national center of Muslims in the Balkans. (...) In all previous works, and based on the data provided about the Isa-beg Ishaković Krajište from 1455, and Dubrovnik sources in which Novi Pazar is mentioned for the first time in 1461, conclusions were drawn and it was written that Novi Pazar was built between 1455 and 1461. However, if we know that in 1468 it was registered as a šeher, a settlement of the highest level in the Ottoman classification, then it was probably founded even before the year that is officially mentioned as the year of foundation of Novi Pazar. The founder of Novi Pazar is a famous military leader, commander of the Bosnian and Skopje region, founder of Sarajevo, Skopje - Gazi Isa-beg Ishaković, founder of the first city cell, builder of a mosque, caravanserai, hammam and 56 shops.“
