At the First Session of ZAVNOBiH, on November 25, 1943 in Mrkonjić Grad, Bosnia restored its statehood
Asking himself why Bosniaks celebrate ZAVNOBiH, RS leader Milorad Dodik said: "What BiH celebrates is invented in the minds of Muslim politicians, who, confidently, which is inherent to them, are trying to build a story on lies about commemorating the communist event from World War II in Mrkonjic Grad, as a statehood day. During this period, most of the Muslims were in the Ustasha army and in the Handžar Division."
Historical facts are: at the First Session of ZAVNOBiH, on November 25, 1943 in Mrkonjić Grad, Bosnia after 480 years, restored its statehood. The highest political representative body of Bosnian people voted for the federal order of Yugoslavia in which BiH would be an equal unit.
At the 2nd session of ZAVNOBiH (June 1944 in Sanski Most) ZAVNOBiH was constituted into the highest authority in BiH, and at the session held in April 1945, ZAVNOBiH was transformed into the National Assembly of BiH. The Constitution of the People's Republic of BiH was promulgated on 31.12.946. "Except for the Decree on the Bosnian Vilayet sanctioned by the Sultan in November 1864 and the Statute (Constitution) for Bosnia and Herzegovina sanctioned in February 1910 by the Austrian Emperor and Hungarian King Franz Joseph, exactly after 483 and a half years, since the loss of statehood in 1463, Bosnia's sovereign people's representative body, elected in free elections, passed Bosnia and Herzegovina's first constitution in its history."
Article 1 of the Constitution states that the People's Republic of BiH is a people's state of republican form, which regulates the status of BiH as a state.
