The copy of vaqufnama's are preserved in the Historical Archive
In November 1531, the first of three vaqufnames (trust or foundation) was created by Gazi Husrev-bey, the Bosnian sandjak-bey and governor of the Ottoman Empire. The copy of vaqufnama's are preserved in the Sarajevo Historical Archive. The first vaqufnama, written for the mosque, imaret and hanikah, together with the other two from 1537, represents the documents that are the legal basis for the formation of the vaquf of Gazi Husrev-bey, one of the most meritorious figures for the development of Sarajevo.
In the vaqufnama, among other things, it is said: "Good deeds drive away evil, and the highest of good deeds is charity. The highest charity is the one that remains forever, and the most beautiful of charitable deeds is the one that will be repeated permanently . For as long as This World is in existence the benefit of waquf will not cease nor will it stop to function until the Day of Judgement."
