The bridge is on UNESCO's list of cultural monuments
On this day, November 9, 1993, after being repeatedly hit by tank missiles of the Croatian Defence Council, the Old Bridge in Mostar, built in 1566, was demolished.
The Old Bridge is the work of the Ottoman architect Mimar Hajrudin, and its demolition is often mentioned in the context of the defeat of civilization during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina (1992-1995).
The old bridge, 24 meters high in the highest part, was renovated and opened in July 2004, and in 2005 it was included in the list of UNESCO Protected Cultural Monuments.
