Nermin Rakita was born on June 19, 1974 in Sarajevo. He graduated in 2001 from the Faculty of Agriculture and Food, University of Sarajevo, where he was employed as an assistant in the field of "Agricultural Mechanization" in the same year.
He started postgraduate studies in the field of "Agricultural Technology and Management" in 2005/2006. in the international program and finished with the highest average grade. He defended his master's thesis entitled "Mechanical damage of raspberry fruit in the process of harvesting and transportation" on April 3, 2009, while his doctoral dissertation entitled "Maintenance of agricultural tractors in the function of improving exploitation properties" was defended on September 20, 2016.
He was elected to the position of assistant professor in the field of "Agricultural Mechanization" in 2017, and in 2022 he became an associate professor. As a teacher, he actively participates in teaching in all study cycles in the field of Agricultural Technology at the Faculty of Agriculture and Food, University of Sarajevo.
During his career, he was the director of the Institute for Agricultural Techniques several times and is currently the head of the Department of Pedology, Plant Nutrition, Land Reclamation and Agricultural Techniques. He currently serves as the president of the Trade Union Organization of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food. He is a participant in several domestic and international projects, a member of the BAS/TC45 technical committee for agriculture since 2020, and the author of numerous scientific and professional works, including the book "Production of perennial forage crops and application of agricultural machinery" (2021).
During his employment, he trained professionally abroad, participated in the promotion of agricultural techniques through the media and actively contributed to the development of the profession. He speaks English, while German is used passively.
